This only applies to the use of implants. While breast implants “do not” increase breast cancer risks, there is some information about a possible link to ALCL that women should know that Anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a very rare form of cancer of the cells of the immune system. It is not breast cancer, but ALCL occurs in breast tissue. About three in 100 million women get ALCL. The FDA believes that women with breast implants that have textured surfaces have a very low but increased risk of developing BIA-ALCL. However, that doesn’t mean that these implants cause BIA-ALCL. It is always advisable to check with your surgeon regarding this.
